Macau Outer Harbour Nightlife

What to Do at Night in Macau Outer Harbour

D2

While Macau’s emerging clubbing scene is till in its infancy, the Vegas of the East is proving to be fairly wild in its formative years. Pretty much a 24-hour part of town, the casinos will always welcome guests in for a drink or two – regardless of the hour. Fisherman’s wharf is a popular nighttime venue, housing the Hong Kong-based Nicole Fashion Club and here the island's hip and trendy crowd works the floor.

For those who are interested in dance music D2 and Sky 21 are leading the way in Macau’s dance revolution. It’s not all hedonistic around these parts however; quiet waterside drinks are a relaxing alternative to dancing the night away, or at least a way to get it started.

D2 (AIA Tower)

D2

The infamous D2 is now the island's latest dance venue. The crowd here is usually a bit more hedonistic and wants to dance the night away, while having a bit of a flirt. By day the building is a hub of activity with business executives marching in and out and talking business. Come evening time, though, the AIA Tower takes on a new persona, becoming the hidden secret of Macau’s clubbers. Situated on the second floor, the music will act as your guide – just follow the beat.

Moonwalker Bar (Vista Magnifica Court)

Moonwalker is the place to head to if you want to listen to some upbeat, live sounds. Situated across the road from Macau’s Bar Street, the tables spill out onto the covered patio where pleasant conversation and drinks can be enjoyed. Open till 04:00, the Moonwalker Bar is worth checking out if you enjoy listening to classic cover songs and being among friendly and relaxed people.

MP3 (Vista Magnifica Court)

This is a prime choice for party animals who enjoy a bit of variety in their music and company. Arguably the most outrageous of Macau’s clubs, here you will find drag queens, pole dancers and many of the island's beautiful people letting their hair down and enjoying the atmosphere. The resident DJ spins some funky dance beats and the crowd is energetic. Drinks are fairly priced and the service excellent. It is well worth checking this club out to get a taste of Macau’s wild side.

Nicole Fashion Club (Fisherman's Wharf)

This fashionable karaoke venue is a guaranteed good night out. Popular with locals, tourists and Hong Kong’s weekend visitors, the crowd is generally hip, young and trendy. Considered to be a glitzy bar, be forewarned that the crowd will be in their best attire so don’t turn up in trainers and ripped jeans.

The most popular place on Fisherman Wharf, you can be sure the club will be almost full most nights of the week. Featuring both resident and guest DJs, the club plays an eclectic mix of tracks.

Sky 21 (AIA Tower)

Sky 21

Located on the top three floors of the AIA Tower, Sky 21 was one of Macau's initial dance clubs. Set out over 30,000sq feet, the club comprises both eating, dancing and bar space. Bringing in international DJs, it remains one of the islands most popular venues. Sky 21 has an extensive list of cocktails, private rooms and outdoor and indoor drinking and dining spaces.

The Burlesque dancers all the way from Amsterdam certainly turn the heat up a bit and add to the overriding spirit of the joint. The music changes, depending on the night, with everything from Jazz, hip hop, break beats, techno and house on the menu.

Whisky Bar (Star World Hotel)

Whisky Bar

Situated on the 16th floor of the Star World Hotel, the Whisky Bar has floor-to-ceiling glass windows, affording sprawling views of Macau over a double scotch. Next door is a cigar lounge with a quieter ambience. The bar is chic and a great place to enjoy a finely poured beverage while listening to the smooth sounds of resident singers. It's busy at weekends, so arrive early if you want to get a seat.
