What to Do at Night in Taipa Island

The vast majority of Macau’s famous nightlife occurs within the casinos or down at the Outer Harbour. Taipa has a vast assortment of restaurants, predominantly of Portuguese origin, where good food and drink can be enjoyed, other than that Taipa’s the majority of action happens at the newly opened Venetian Macau.

Alternatively, there are a few expat style pubs dotted around or well hidden up the intertwining backstreets. Taipa is a beautiful place to take an evening stroll through the village or up Taipa Hequena to see the panoramic views of neighbouring Hong Kong Harbour.

OTT – Old Taipa Tavern

A popular expat bar, the good choice of draft beer and the welcoming atmosphere make sure a lively crowd passes through its doors. Friday and Saturday nights can get busy when resident band Bluecard take to the stage with authentic live pub music, consisting of classic guitar tracks and some ballads. To make more space for dancing the dining tables are pushed back and then the Old Taipa Tavern bursts with energy.

The Macau Jockey Club

Nighttime races are run in the cooler months, when tickets can be bought to see the flat- track racing and enjoy a few drinks before hitting the casinos. The Macau Jockey Club is surrounded by bars and pubs that punters often frequent after a meeting. The area also has a karaoke bar where you can drown your sorrows or hopefully joys with a chosen number.

The Venetian Macao

A glamorous tribute to Renaissance Venice – The Venetian Macau excels in every service it features, from gambling to shopping; and nightlife is not exempt from this rule. Venetian Macau features three swanky drinking lounges – each unique in character and identity; For the ladies, Bellini Lounge is best visited on a Wednesday as female guests get free drinks between 20:00 and 01:00.

Live entertainment in the form of music and dance runs throughout the day and night. World Wide Wings is the resident sports bar and Bar Florian is at the centre of the casino floor serving light snacks, accompanied by an extensive drinks menu. The spectacular Cirque du Soleil also performs within the grounds of the hotel.
